Since Herb Hill and Austin Croshere don’t get any run on their teams, Ryan Gomes is the only former Friar in the NBA who gets any serious playing time. So, I am going to try to give a little Gomes update after each Timberwolves game.
The Timberwolves visited the Sacremento Kings in a late game Friday night. It was bad news for former Big East players on the Wolves, as they shook up their lineup after starting the season poorly at 1-3. Gomes and former Villanova star Randy Foye both started all games thus far, but were taken out of the starting lineup against the Kings. Gomes was replaced by rookie Kevin Love from UCLA.
Despite the lineup change, the Timberwolves lost again 121-109.
Gomes came off the bench and played 15 minutes. His only points came off a 3 point shot. He shot 1-5 overall (1-3 from downtown) and recorded only 1 rebound in addition to 2 assists.
Aside from the quiet game, Gomes should be really concerned about his playing time since Kevin Love was excellent when given the chance to start. He had 20 points and 8 rebounds.
The Timberwolves next game is Tuesday, November 11 at the Goden State Warriors, gametime 9:30pm.
