Since Herb Hill and Austin Croshere don’t get any run on their teams, Ryan Gomes is the only former Friar in the NBA who gets any serious playing time. So, I am going to try to give a little Gomes update after each Timberwolves game.
The Timberwolves were on the road again facing the Portland Trailblazers on Saturday night. Their losing skid continued, losing 97-93 to drop their record to 1-5.
Gomes came off the bench for the second straight game and logged 20 minutes. He only scored 4 points on 2-5 shooting. However he was strong on the boards pulling down 6 rebounds.
Rookie Kevin Love, who replaced Gomes in the starting lineup, did really well in his first start on Friday night. However, last night he recorded only 2 points off 2 foul shots. He shot 0-7 from the field. It will be interesting to see if they give Gomes another shot in the starting lineup.
The Wolves next game is Tuesday night at Golden State.
