Its imperitive that Providence and Coach Davis get off on the right foot tonight. Northeastern is a nice veteran team that played really well against good teams in big conferences last year. They are definitely a tough opening game compared to some of the competition other Big East teams played last night (UCONN, Pitt, Nova, Marquette, St. John’s, USF, Seton Hall and Rutgers all won last night pretty big save Rutgers). It sounds silly to think of the first game as a must win, but the Friars really can’t afford to lose to lesser out of conference teams if they want to compete in the Big East. Sure they can put up a stinker and then keep improving as the season goes on and excel in Big East play, but Friar fans just want to see the Keno Davis era start on a positive note. I think the senior class will make sure it happens.
