Gomes Shines as Wolves Stun Pistons [Gomes Tracker]

Since Herb Hill and Austin Croshere don’t get any run on their teams, Ryan Gomes is the only former Friar in the NBA who gets any serious playing time. So, I am going to try to give a little Gomes update after each Timberwolves game.

Just when you thought Minnesota was heading towards another 8 game losing streak, they went ahead and destroyed the Detroit Pistons on the road 106-80.  The Pistons, although struggling of late, are now 8-5 and 4th place in the Eastern Conference.

The Timberwolves are now 3-9 (3rd worst in the Western Conference)

Gomes was in the starting lineup for the 4th consecutive game, and it looks like he is going to stay for the time being.  He had his best game of the young season, scoring a season high 20 points (9-11 from the field) and pulling down 7 rebounds.

Randy Foye, former Big East star for Villanova, had a great game for the Wolves as well.  He poured in 23 points and dished out 14 assists.

“We need him to be aggressive,” forward Ryan Gomes said. “He’s the motor that makes us go.”

Check out the highlights for two of Gomes’ hoops!

Through 12 games, here are Gomes’ averages.
