Providence vs. Baylor – Some Numbers

Since the in-season tournament “Anaheim Classic” will be the first all-time meeting between the Providence Friars and Baylor Bears, let’s take a look at some other interesting numbers.

  • 54 in-season tournament appearances for the Friars.

  • 13 in-season tournament championships for the Friars
  • 10 in-season tournament championships for Baylor
  • 2007 The Friars last in-season tournament was last season in the Puerto Rico Tip-off.  Providence won the first two games but last in the championship game to Miami.  Geoff McDermott was tournament MVP even though PC lost.
  • 2007 Baylor’s last in-season tournament was last year in the Paradise Jam crown in the U.S. Virgin Islands, which they won.
  • .575 Winning % (69-51) for the Friars in their in-season tournament games

  • 3-9 Baylor’s all-time record versus the Big East
  • 79-77 Providence lost to Texas on January 5th, 2004, their last game against a Big 12 opponent.  Typing this makes me want to cry (and break things at the same time).
