It isn’t often that a team sporting six four-year veterans is still searching for its identity a dozen games into a season, but that’s just where guard Sharaud Curry and the Providence College Friars sit with the opening of Big East play at hand.
While neither team is looking like they are completely out of the running to appear in your March Madness betting pools when the NCAA Tournament roles around, both have not quite doomed their season yet.
It’s time to step in to the bright lights of conference season for St. John’s. They come into conference play with a 9-3 record that sounds good, but features three losses against the ACC foes Boston College, Virginia Tech, and Miami. Those weren’t pretty losses. They featured hefty disparities in St. John’s ability to get to the free throw line vs their ability to keep their opponents off the line (except for Virginia Tech) and a serious beating on the offensive glass/ second chance opportunities
