Um, at least they didn’t score 100?

The Friars kept it relatively close for 35 minutes of the game, but then just turned over the ball on every single play and allowed Villanova to blow them out.  Not good when you are trying to make a case for the NCAA’s.

Weyinmi Efejuku was the only one who showed up big time offensively, scoring 29 points.  Curry was pretty solid from behind the arc, hitting 4 threes and getting 14 points.  Kale also had 14, but had a bunch of foul shots in garbage time.

The Friars turned over the ball 22 times (6 by Wey, but he had to get touches and drive on pretty much every possession because he was the only one who could score most of the game), and Nova scored somewhere between 30-40 points off those miscues.  Nova had 19(!) steals.

Scotty Reynolds could not be stopped once again, hitting 5 threes and netting 23 points.  Dwayne Anderson and Dante Cunningham each had 19.

Providence falls to 18-12 and ends up 10-8 in the BIG EAST.  They will need to do some good work in the BET to now be considered for an NCAA bid.

If Syracuse wins on Saturday at Marquette, PC will be the #8 seed in the BET and have to play at NOON next Wednesday.  Talk about suckiness.

Now, prepare for an entire week of “Do we need 1 or 2 wins in the BET to make the NCAA Tournament”….I’m getting sick just thinking about it.

More to come later.  Need to watch the Office to get a laugh.
