Friars Blow Late Lead in Awful OT Loss to USF

109-105.  One hundred and effing 9 to 105.

Following this game on Twitter and the gamecasts, it seemed the Friars were having absolutely no trouble with South Florida with a nice lead for most of the game.  Sure, Dominique Jones was getting his points, but the Friars offense was kicking.  The defense? No so much. Everything went to hell in a hand basket after Providence blew a 10 point lead with 1:41 left in the 2nd half.  PC missed their foul shots late (VC, how could you? You broke my heart), and USF fought back.  Toarlyn Fitzpatrick hit a three with under a second left on the clock to force OT.  That seemed to cook Providence, because Jones (47 effing points) and South Florida took control of OT.

Providence now joins DePaul and Rutgers as the only BIG EAST home teams to lose to USF. We’re in fabulous company now.

Just a terrible, terrible loss.

More to come late tomorrow as I’ll be off poking various sharp things into my eyes.
