Remember how PG Ryan Boatright gave his verbal (during a hyped press conference at his high school mind you) to West Virginia on Monday, after narrowing his choices down to the Mountaineers and PC? Well, just four days later he has officially backed out.
“He did decommit,” Ryan’s mother Tanesha said Friday night. “But we don’t have any comment right now. We are thinking about it and trying to accept it as a family.”
After gushing about great it was going to be to play for Huggins, Boatright apparently did not feel comfortable with WVU continually stocking up at PG (just a day later, WVU got a verbal from another top PG prospect Jabarie Hinds).
Whatever the case, Boatright has a completely new list of schools narrowed down, and Providence is not one of them.
@3starmeyer Ryan Boatright has opened his recruiment. UNLV, oklahoma and Uconn now.
One has to wonder if he ever had any intention coming to Providence. I’m sure the Keno and the Friars would still want him even though they have their plan B PG recruit (Kyan Anderson) making an official visit today. Who knows, maybe Boatright will make a completely different list by Monday — This isn’t the first time he has backed out of a verbal, as he once gave his word to USC in EIGHT GRADE.
