So what do you know, something good came out of Texas for me this weekend. Days after a pitch froze Alex Rodriguez to knock my Yankees out of the playoffs, the Providence Friars got a verbal for a PG next year.
The six-foot 160 pound guard from Texas (North Crowley HS) gave his verbal during his official visit to PC this weekend. People picked up his announcement on his Facebook page last night (isn’t technology great? seriously), and other recruiting outlets were reporting it as well. Anderson was also considering Miami, Georgetown Hoyas, Wake Forest, Arizona and UCLA.
Kyan is a jet with the ball in his hands. He is always looking to push the ball up court, can break down the defense at anytime and makes good decisions while on the fly. He consistently gets into the lane, will kick it out to the open shooter or drop it off in traffic for an easy bucket on the block. He is a good scorer with a soft touch on runners and floaters in traffic, can hit the open 3 point shot and has a good feel for when to shoot and when to give it up.
While he is not in the Top 100 on various ranking websites as of right now, Anderson is rated a 93 in the Scouts grade and 20th in his position by ESPN. Yeah a Ryan Boatright commitment would have been a good win for boasting a Top 50 player, but it seems that the Friars are getting a very good point guard here. With wing Markus Crider already committed for next year, Keno and staff are building up some quality depth on the roster. They really worked hard, as it looked like PC was not even on Kyan’s list as late as the summer. Now let’s see him have a great senior year! Welcome to Friartown.
