After spending the last three seasons in Minnesota putting up very solid numbers (10+ PPG, 4+ RPG) for the Timberwolves, Friar alumn Ryan Gomes was traded on draft day to Portland, but was waived five days later when the Trailblazers couldn’t get a deal for him. However, within 20 minutes of Lebron James’ Decision in early July, the Clippers announced they had signed Gomes (3 years/$12M) and fellow BIG EAST alumn Randy Foye. While Gomes has been starting in the preseason, it remains to be seen if he gets as much run as he did in Minnesota. As the only Providence Friar currently in the NBA, I will try to post some updates here like I have done in the past.
Anyways, I came across this cool video of Ryan hitting a backwards half-court shot that popped up few days ago. Love the new hairstyle Mr. Gomes! Looks like he’s fitting in well with his new teammates.
