Local Media Starting to Pile on Ledo’s High School Coach Ryan Hurd

Questions are starting to be asked regarding Notre Dame Prep coach Ryan Hurd’s motives with where Ricky Ledo ends up.

Yesterday, Jim Donaldson of the Providence Journal openly wondered (via many short sentences) exactly why Hurd seemed to be the only one who was not OK with Ricky Ledo making any type of decision yet.

Ledo’s non-decision raises eyebrows — and questions

There is no good — and certainly no obvious — reason why, if Ledo wants to make a verbal commitment to the Friars, he shouldn’t do so.

So why does Hurd REALLY want Ledo to delay announcing his college decision?

It’s not as if the choice of PC is precipitious.

Nor does it promise to be in any way calamitous.

Which is why Hurd’s reluctance seems, shall we say politely, a tad suspicious.

Scott Cordischi of GoLocalProv, who originally broke the news saying Ledo had committed to PC, is also hearing some shady things on his end.

Something Stinks In Fitchburg

Apparently some believe that Hurd may be trying to steer Ledo toward the University of Pittsburgh which, as of the moment, isn’t on Ledo’s list of 5 finalists.

One of Jamie Dixon’s assistant coaches is Bill Barton who replaced Pat Skerry on the Pitt coaching staff.

But here’s the rub. Barton essentially built the Notre Dame Prep (Fitchburg, MA) basketball program into a national powerhouse in his ten seasons there from 1997-2007. See the connection?

Is Hurd trying to steer Ledo to Pittsburgh to help his buddy Bill Barton? Your guess is as good as mine. But if you listen to some people, they will tell you if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck!

Hey now. Things are starting to heat up. Gotta love a good conspiracy theory.
