At BIG EAST Media Day this year, there was no empty Providence table and a sad Keno (OR A SAD KEANU). Instead, everyone was interested to hear what Ed Cooley had to say about the new era of Providence College Basketball.
I was in attendance at the New York Athletic Club today, but wasn’t allowed to ask questions or talk to the coaches because of the Volvo Contest I am participating in. However, I did get to listen in on the other media questions and Coach Cooley’s answers.

@DalyDoseOfHoops (who was standing right next to me, and I didn’t realize I knew him on Twitter) compiled a list of some of his quotes.
“One thing we’re trying to do right now is get our guys to have great daily habits that are going to build team success.”
“I’m going to hold those guys accountable to everything we do on and off the floor.”
“I’m so competitive and I understand the history of these coaches, but they’re in the same league with Ed Cooley too.”
“In order to be competitive, you can’t take a step back to anybody.”
“I think you have to have a resilient attitude and want to compete against that level.”
On players picking up competitive mentality: “If they don’t, they’re not going to be on my team long. I can tell you that.”
“It’s home for me, and I really can’t express that enough. It really is a dream job.”
“I really understand the tradition, I know the history and there’s no other place I’d rather be.”
“I’m proud of the fact that they gave me an opportunity to come home, and I want to prove them right.”
On MAAC + its coaches coming to Big East: “It’s incredible. The MAAC really is underrated nationally. Great league, tough coaches”
“I’m a big MAAC fan, but I’m a bigger fan of the Big East.”
“We’re trying to build an identity of who we are and what we’re trying to become.”
“We may not be the most talented team yet, but we’re going to give some folks some headaches.”
“The more great habits we can have, the better we’ll become.”
On Council + Coleman: “I’m just happy we have them because they can score.”
On realignment: “It is a little wild but that’s what makes it great. I think we all need wild in our life…keeps it spicy.”

“I make my system adapt to the current team I have. I don’t just say this is My System and that’s it.”
“We are going to win big at Providence if the fans give us time to put in our system and recruit our style of guys.”
