While the Friars were getting pummeled up in Syracuse last night, both Kris Dunn and Josh Fortune’s teams were in action. Dunn continued his dominating ways, this time in New York City at the Big Apple Basketball Invitational.
Senior Kris Dunn capped off a terrific performance with a game-ending dunk, lifting New London past Benjamin Cardozo of Queens, 80-76, in a high school boys’ basketball game at Baruch College in Manhattan.
Dunn finished with 35 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. He scored 17 of New London’s 29 points in the fourth quarter and helped sealed the win with two free throws with seven seconds remaining, increasing the lead to 78-75.
Here are two of his points.
Josh Fortune on the other hand, did not play in his game due to back spasms.
Missing senior shooter Josh Fortune, the Warriors didn’t quite have enough Saturday night.
Kecoughtan trailed 43-33 going into the fourth quarter but rallied behind the outside shooting of Nate Motley, Jeremy Saunders and Rodney Bullock. With a flurry of 3-pointers, Warwick cut the lead to 52-48 on Bullock’s trey with 3:09 left.
But the Miller School’s Andrew White drove the lane for a 3-point play layup, which pushed the lead back to seven. Greg Alexander’s jumper made it 55-50, but an intentional foul resulted in a three-point possession for the Miller School which sealed.
