"I can shoot a three like this, and it would go in. True story"

Will there be any Friars left when the season starts next year? In very surprising news, Chad Groth of Area Codes Basketball on Twitter said that Bryce Cotton got his release and will be transferring out of PC. A very sad day in Friartown, as I LOVED Ice Cotton and thought he was going to be a nice role player for the team next year. He seemed like a great kid, and I thought he bought into the Ed Cooley system. Maybe he found a new place to play 39 minutes a game and shoot whenever he wanted? With the great incoming class, Cotton’s minutes were sure to take a big hit. However, with the depth issues the team saw last year, the minutes were going to be important despite being less. Hopefully we’ll find out more on why Bryce decided to leave.

With Ian Baker now being on the fence coming to PC, Ed Cooley has Vincent Council, Kris Dunn, Ricky Ledo, and Josh Fortune at the guard position, with Kiwi Gardner also in limbo.  Council would be the only one who has played any BIG EAST minutes. While the Friars have three great guards (assuming Ledo qualifies), depth is once again a concern. Oh, and there’s still no other big men officially coming yet.

We’ll miss you Ice. Best of luck wherever you land.

BREAKING NEWS: Bryce Cotton gets his release today from Providence. Cotton is a soph PG from Tucson, AZ.
