Old Skool Rhode Island matchup. Lots of awesome hair involved in this picture.

Andre LaFleur visited Brewster Academy yesterday presumably to check in on 2013 guard Ron Patterson. Brewster coach Jason Smith tweeted that if a school has visited twice so far since the start of the contect period on September 9th, then you are a priority! Well, Ed Cooley checked him out last week. Also note that Jared Terrell (2014 guard target) also plays there.

2nd workout video in a row, this one of 2013 combo guard EC Matthews from Michigan. Can Buckets pull any strings to get this guy in Friartown?
Vincent Council needs 101 assists this year to break Ernie DiGregorio’s career record of 662 at PC. Ernie D wasn’t able to play as many games though, and had a career 7.7 assists per game from 1970-73 compared to Council’s current 6 apg career average.
More Council fun stats: The record for most minutes played in a single season in Friar history is Billy Donovan in 1986-1987 (it helps they went to the Final Four and everything). That year he logged 1,234 minutes. Last season Vincent Council played 1200 minutes. Remember that Syracuse game he had to sit out because of a “coach’s decision”? If he played his normal 38-40 minutes that night he would have broken the record. Donnie McGrath holds the career record with 4,128. Council needs 912 this year in order to break that, which he probably will do in about 24 games if he stays healthy.
ESPN: Mike Brey on Irish’s future scheduling
Thanks for naming everyone but Providence (I don’t care where they are located, it’s DEPAUL), you mock turleneck wearing son of a bisquit. Ed Cooley is going to make you regret this, you watch…
Brey wants to play the Big East’s Catholic-based institutions, especially long-standing rivals Marquette and DePaul, in nonconference home-and-home series. Brey said he would like to add Villanova, St. John’s and possibly Georgetown into the rotation of schools the Irish want to play. Brey said he wants to play at least two to three of those five schools every season.
“We’re not in Philadelphia anymore so we definitely want Villanova, we want to go to New York with St. John’s and keep DePaul and Marquette,” Brey said. “We will be in the D.C. area with Maryland, but we’d still like to play Georgetown. Villanova, DePaul, Marquette, St. John’s and possibly Georgetown are definitely the five I’d like to do.”
Some BIG EAST teams have been releasing updates to their schedules that were released earlier in the month, so we have a few updated times for conference games. The Marquette game on the road on Saturday, January 26th is at 1PM. The St. John’s game on Saturday, March 2nd at THE DUNK will be at 8PM. The BIG EAST opener in Louisville on January 2nd will be at 7PM as expected (it’s a Wednesday).
By fews year away, you mean next year, right?
A name I forgot for the 2014 Recruiting Board was 7-2 Pascal Chukwu from Nigeria who plays ball in Connecticut. H/T @Craigl78

Players of note for this team are 2014 center Matt Cimino, who has an offer from Providence after visiting this summer. But you already knew that because you studied the 2014 recruiting board, right??
