The Fresh Prince of PC

Nerlens Noel is making his visit rounds and is at Kentucky this weekend. To show how much we here at Friarblog care about the big man coming to Providence, I created a song just for him. Please share, retweet, post this wherever you can to get this out there!

The Fresh Prince of PC

(Sung to the tune of the theme from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire)

Now this is a story all about how
A basketball program in Rhody got flipped-turned upside down
And I liked to take a minute just sit with me
And tell you how I became the prince of a college called PC

In Everett, Mass born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Chillin out, maxin, relaxing all cool,
And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school

When a Coach named Cooley tried to recruit me
Said we’re building something special with Dunn and Ricky
They called me nuts and I got lots of abuse
They said I should go to Kentucky or head to the Cuse

I visited lots of crowded arenas, and got lots of love
The decision was going to be tough when push came to shove
I took my time and listened to my gut
Ima create my own legacy and get a team out of a rut

Sorry Jim, Sorry Cal, Sorry JT3
I’m chosing to be a part of Coach Cooley’s family
The team has been bad, but it’s on the rise
I can see it by looking into Big Ed’s eyes

I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said FRESH and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I can say this cab stunk
But I thought naw forget it yo homes to The Dunk!

I walked onto the court of THE DUNK about 7 or 8
The Friars were ranked, it was a packed house it was great
I looked at my kingdom with my family there to see
To sit on my throne as the Prince of PC

If you follow Kiwi Gardner on Twitter (@KiwiLoveThaKids), it’s hard not to see how much passion he has towards the program even with his unfortunate eligibility situation. That is, granted you can understand what the heck he is talking about most of the time. Yeah, that makes me sound about a million years old by not being able to keep up with the latest slang of kids these days, but apparently I’m not alone. Today, some masked member of the internet created a Twitter account that translates his Tweets — check it out at @KiwiTranslator! It’s informative and hilarious at the same time. Even Kiwi Gardner himself likes it.

Here is an example:

Met at Tha party got ya # text all week slide thru on Tha weekend bring sum friends I b wit players , jacuzzi then got it poppin lol EARLY
peewee big brother

Which means…

We met at a party where I got your telephone number, then you and your friends came over to my hottub and we began to have relations.

And another:

Im gettin a prenup idgaf ! I needs all ma cheese !
peewee big brother

Which translated:

I am signing a prenuptial agreement with my future wife and simply do not care what she thinks.Financially, I need my funds to be in order.

Here is a live steam of the South Kent / Brewster game (Note: started at 7PM, so 2nd half is underway). Perhaps Ricardo Ledo can convince Brewster big man JaKarr Sampson to commit to PC while he drops many points against them?
