After all the uncertainty the conference re-alignment has brought the future of the Providence College Friars, we thankfully can count on the support of former commish Mike Tranghese. Speaking to Mike Francesa this afternoon, Tranghese has this to say at the end of the interview.

“The one person I’m going to help is Providence College. I told them that. I’m going to help them, out of respect for Dave, because that was Dave’s true love. In fact,  In lieu of flowers that’s where all of Dave’s donations [inaudible]. to Providence College Academic Fund… Providence College was a deep love for Dave. I know if he were alive I know what he would be telling me. You gotta go help Providence. I just feel I have an obligation to do that, and I’m going to try and do that.”

Former Commissioner Mike Tranghese appeared on WFAN with Mike Francesa on Monday afternoon to talk about Dave Gavitt, the early days of the Friars, and the BIG EAST.
