This doesn’t appear to be an official list or anything, but Vincent Council is one of 9 players listed as candidates for BIG EAST preseason Player of the Year. I’m guessing Peyton Siva gets it here, mainly because Louisville is the #1 team. I am eagerly awaiting their matchup in the BIG EAST opener.

Shabazz Napier, UConn
Gorgui Dieng, Louisville
Otto Porter, Georgetown
Vincent Council, Providence
Petyon Siva, Louisville
Jack Cooley, Notre Dame
Sean Kilpatrick, Cincinnati
Branon Triche, Syracuse
D’Angelo Harrison, St. John’s

notes Missed this on Sunday, but Rodney Bullock (who visted PC last weekend) tweeted that he will make a decision after two more visits. Where could be looking to check out? He has other offers from UMAss, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Miami. You think he would have checked out UMass while in New England, so probably assume they are no longer involved. All three ACC schools could be in play here.

picture Carson Desrosiers Tweet

The boys are looking sharp in the official team photo. What I would give to have all 13 of these guys play this season. Come on, Kris Dunn’s shoulder looks FINE. Get him out on the court! Man, Carson Desrosiers is tall. He should also be proud because he is also the tannest white dude, as an astute person tweets.

notes Rodney Bullock was on his official visit today. According to Steve Hartnett on Twitter, assistant coach Andre LaFleur was the lead recruiter. Of course it had to be a crappy rainy day.

notes 2013 Combo guard Rene Castro was rumored to visit campus this afternoon for an unofficial. Castro, who plays at Worcester Academy, has seen his stock fall over the last year after seeing big interest from such teams as Pitt this past spring. I’ve heard George Washington is one of the leaders, and he has a lot of offers from other A-10 schools. Providence has not offered as of yet from what I understand.

This gave me a nice LOL this morning. “The Brooklyn Nets released photos of the cheerleaders’ outfits today. I might be Clueless, but haven’t I seen those somewhere before?” They will be cheering on Marshon this year!

notes 6-7 SF Rodney Bullock, from the same high school that Josh Fortune hails from in Virginia, landed in Providence tonight for his official visit this weekend according to his own Tweet.

Phoebus VS Kecoughtan 1

According to Ed Miller (who covers Old Dominion basketball on, 2013 forward Rodney Bullock from Kecoughtan High School in Virginia will visit Providence next weekend.

Let’s talk about Bullock first. At 6-6 1/2, the Kecoughtan High senior is a “hybrid 4″, according to his AAU coach, Boo Williams. In Boo’s mind, he’s the type of athletic player the Monarchs need to get as they move to C-USA. A relentless rebounder, Bullock is developing a mid-range game and has improving ballhandling skills.

Bullock’s stock has dropped a bit since last year, when he was considered by some services to be a top 100 prospect. But he remains very much in demand. He’ll visit Providence next weekend, according to Williams.

The connection there? Former Kecoughtan teammate Josh Fortune, a Providence freshman.

Bullock visited Old Dominion last weekend, and has offers from UMASS, NC State, Miami, and Virginia Tech. Here is a blurb from his ESPN Scouting report from last month.

Bottom Line:
Bullock is a athletic forward that is a terrific rebounder and can step out and hit jumpers to the arc. With time and space. He competes and affects the game with his length and athletic ability. Bullock must add strength and improving his ball handling but has great upside.
