Check out Greedy on SportsCenter again after his nice put back slam off the missed three pointer.
Bilal Dixon had a thunderous one handed dunk against Villanova on a nice feed from Vincent Council. He came down hard as Yarou fouled him.
The play was featured on SportsCenter as the #2 play of the day. Congrats Bilal! You only need 3 more to catch up with Greedy!
Here is a nice still from the AP Photos.

Pat Forde of ESPN weighed in on the Curry call in his Saturday Observation blog post.
The loss cannot be blamed completely on that T — but for a team with virtually no margin for error on the road against a top-five opponent, losing Curry for the final eight minutes was a huge factor in Providence’s sixth straight defeat.
While admittedly having no idea what Curry might have said or done up to that point during the game, his reaction to that particular call didn’t look like an obvious technical response. It probably explains why Providence coach Keno Davis was so exorcised. Big East officiating has been under scrutiny a few times this season, and this is one more talking point.
Apparently Jamine Peterson’s amazing 29 point, 20 rebound performance was not good enough for any BIG EAST weekly honors, or any mention in the ESPN Weekly Honors post. I guess his stinker against Louisville brought him down so much, even doing something only 12 other BIG EAST players have ever done could not make up for it.
Harangody, Oriakhi Earn Weekly Men’s Basketball Honors
Harangody was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after he averaged 30.0 points and 5.5 rebounds and shot 57.9 percent from the field (22-of-38) to lead Notre Dame to a pair of close victories against BIG EAST opponents. Harangody scored a season-high 36 points — including a go-ahead free throw with 1.9 seconds left — and had six rebounds in a 74-73 win at USF. He had 24 points and five boards on 9-of-15 shooting in a 70-68 win against No. 8/8 West Virginia
YAWN. Jeremy Hazell (averaged 23 points), Dominique Jones (averaged 28 points), Wes Johnson (averaged 19 and 10 in two games), and Friar killer Scottie Reynolds (averaged 18 pts and 3 assists in 2 wins) made the honor roll.
In ESPN land, Katz doesn’t even give Greedy a mention among many other good performances for the week. I guess the fact that it was against Rutgers makes it ho-hum?
Seton Hall’s Jeremy Hazell, who has never seen a shot he doesn’t like, scored 33 in a win over Cincinnati.
Srsly? Man, if only Greedy could hit one of those 4 foul shots in a row he missed in the end to get to 30 points.
If there are any Streak for the Cash players out there, tonight’s Louisville game is available as a straight up pick.

As you can see, not much confidence from the other WWL users out there. God bless those brave 1.7%!
The comments are already pretty entertaining.
Taxers (1/6/2010 at 7:10 AM) Fry guys for the win in this one. No one travels to Rhode Island and lives.
Kriwoxtj (1/6/2010 at 9:34 AM) no one leaves RI alive??? Except for Iona and URI…they will have an RPI over 125 this year and will again keep Providence out of the dance, their schedule is soft (minus the Big East). This will be a close game, but Louisville covers, that full court press is a biaatch!
Hey, finally a Providence mention in ESPN’s Weekly Watch! Only took 7 weeks!
Cooling Off
All the good vibes about St. John’s heading into the Big East must be fading fast. The Red Storm got pummeled by lowly Providence on Sunday, 74-59, to drop to 0-2 in the Big East. The game was at St. John’s. You can’t let that happen this season. Playing without starting point guard Malik Boothe, who is nursing a strained groin from the Red Storm’s loss at Georgetown on New Year’s Eve, St. John’s turned the ball over 23 times, resulting in 21 Friar points. The Red Storm hadn’t totaled as many miscues since last Feb. 14 at Marquette (24).
Lowly eh? I would have went with “rebuilding”.
In league rankings, power shifts to the Midwest
4. Big East: The league may not have a top-seeded team in 2010 after getting three last season (Louisville, UConn, Pitt), but the strength of the league from 1-16 has gotten better. The bottom of the league has risen up with Seton Hall and St. John’s having a real shot at an NCAA bid. West Virginia should be the favorite, despite Villanova’s high ranking. But the Wildcats, Connecticut, Georgetown, Syracuse and possibly Louisville will be in play for bids. So, too, should Notre Dame, with the possible player of the year in Luke Harangody, Cincinnati, with maybe the freshman of the year in Lance Stephenson, and Seton Hall are sleeper teams to rise up into the top four in the league. And never discount Pitt under Jamie Dixon. Toss in the Red Storm as the only team that returns all five starters and the Big East has 11 of its 16 teams thinking NCAAs.
No PC talk yet folks. Under. The. Radar.
Lunardi’s responses aren’t really surprising here, given he no longer has PC among the LAST EIGHT OUT.
Joe Lunardi Chat Friday Afternoon
jeremy compton(berkeley springs, WV) [via mobile]: With the obvious dominance of the big east teams (we ‘could’ have 3 #1 seeds but that won’t happen) why not let Providence in? yes, they looked terrible against L’ville (oh that is right L’ville could easily walk away with a national title and may be the #1 team in the country) but I think they dominate or at least handle a Mich, Md, Kan…..should I go on? time to give props and the big east is IT in college basketball! If I am duke and given a #2 seed because I ‘use’ to be good. I am praying to any basketball god that will listen “PLEASE don’t let WVU, SYC, Nova be in my bracket”. because we are not good enough to beat them.
Joe Lunardi: Providence has had plenty of chances to earn an at-large bid. With one or two exceptions it has not gone their way. Doesn’t have anything to do with being in the “it” conference.
Woh, first of all, this guy wrote all that from a mobile device? Man alive I hope he didn’t use one of those crappy phones without a keypad, where you have to press 1 twice just to get a “B”. Second of all, nice question!
Jimmy (Chesapeake, VA): Who is the best team who is going to miss out of the NCAA tournament and probably going to the NIT? Rhode Island, Davidson, Temple, or Providence?
Joe Lunardi: None of these, Eric, and certainly not Rhode Island or Providence. How about Arizona? Or Florida? Or UNLV? Or a potentially healthy Saint Mary’s? Or Creighton?
Wait, so are you saying you like Providence? I’m not clear.
Chris (Providence): Any chance Providence gets in like Air Force did a few years ago?
Joe Lunardi: Always a chance, but this committee is smarter than that. Plus, Providence is way more qualified than Air Force in 2006
Ok fine.
Let’s face it: It’ll be quite some time before anyone at Madison Square Garden will be talking about anything other than that six-overtime classic between Syracuse and Connecticut on Thursday night. The only Big East mystery besides seeding that remains is Providence, the last bubble team from the league. The Friars lost to Louisville 73-55 in Thursday’s second round, probably ending their hopes of getting an at-large bid. Providence finished 10-8 in Big East play, but its only high-end victories came against Syracuse and Pittsburgh. With a 2-8 record against RPI top-50 foes and 6-13 mark against the top 100, the Friars will probably be left out of the NCAA field on Selection Sunday.
Providence [19-13 (10-8), RPI: 71, SOS: 60] After Thursday’s 18-point loss to Louisville, it doesn’t look great for PC. Other teams on the bubble simply have more meat on their resumes. The Friars upset then-No. 1 Pittsburgh 81-73 on Feb. 24 and beat Syracuse 100-94 on Jan. 28. But those are really the only quality wins in Providence’s inflated 10-8 finish in Big East play. PC also swept games against Cincinnati and beat Rhode Island at home. Providence is 2-8 against RPI top-50 foes and 6-13 against the top 100. The Friars have four blowout road losses in Big East play, having lost at Connecticut by 33 points, Louisville by 18, Villanova by 17 and West Virginia by 27.
