There is goigng to be a lot of different opinions on where PC stands right now…there are going to be people saying they are first FOUR OUT, and first FOUR IN…of course, it’s all going to come down to PC’s next two games, but it’s still fun to project now.

UPDATE: If you don’t like Joey Brackets, check out BaselineStats’ Bracket Projections (PC is second team out)

Again, it’s nice for the mention, but 1) I don’t think we are in yet, and 2) by next Monday we will know a little more about our beloved Friars.

Brendon over at BaselineStats.com has an updated bracket analysis with a lot of great note about the teams on the bubble…i.e. our Providence Friars.

Bracket Junkie: Dissecting a convoluted bubble picture

Providence (16-9, 8-5 in Big East; 67 RPI, 52 SOS, 3-6 vs. top 50, 5-9 vs. top 100): The Friars’ top point in their favor is that lovely 8-5 conference record. The best of those eight wins are a sweep of Cincinnati, a home win over Syracuse and a road win at Seton Hall. PC also defeated Rhode Island by one at home out of conference in a non-conference slate devoid of anything else (good) of note. That’s the list of top-100 wins, and it’s not a list that impresses, especially when you consider the number of opportunities the Friars have had. Nonetheless, two wins over Cincy and an 8-5 conference record in a good conference means something.

Check out the full article for the full seedings and a full analysis on other bubble teams.

Updated Bracketology

Apparently, USC did not get the memo that the “First Four Out” section was supposed to be a BIG EAST party.

FIRST FOUR OUT
USC
Cincinnati
Georgetown
PROVIDENCE

This better not be in the order he thinks they were left out.

Here is how the teams in the BIG EAST are seeded:

UCONN - #1

Pittsburgh - #1

Louisville - #2

Marquette - #3

Villanova - #3

Syracuse - #6

West Virginia - #12

I’m not really sure what Joe Lunardi does all day, but apparently it’s not updating the “Last 4 Out / Next 4 Out” teams in his Bracketology.  Sure, Providence hasn’t really suffered any horrible losses that will just completely eliminate them from NCAA talk, but they have just been blown out in 2 of their last 3 games.  They are one USF loss away from officiall having no wheels.  I guess that Syracuse win was pretty good afterall.

ON THE BUBBLE

FIRST FOUR OUT
Cincinnati
Georgetown
Wisconsin
Michigan

NEXT FOUR OUT
Oklahoma State
PROVIDENCE
Penn State
Baylor

Once again, the pain of seeing Cincinnati ranked somewhere higher than Providence. Oh that Marquette game is going to haunt me for the rest of the year.  What could have been….

I know there are a lot of people out there who hate Bracket Projections this early on, but what else are we to do while our next is game is three days away?  Actual work?

As usual, check out ESPN’s updated Bracketology

FIRST FOUR OUT
Miami
San Diego State
PROVIDENCE
Oklahoma State

Woohoo, moved up from “Next Four Out” last week!

Think Joe Lunardi is an assclown?  Well you are in luck, because there is a new Bracket Projector in town.  Brendon over at the new site “BaselineStats.com” has developed his own formula and ranking system to create his own seedings.

Check out this week’s new Projection Column, which contains TONS of great analysis to go along with the picks.

How did PC fair in his projections?

Last 10 Out

Texas A&M (last out)
Northwestern
Michigan
San Diego State
Miami
Kansas State
PROVIDENCE
Arizona

Preseason Bracketology Fun

Online Sports Fanatic’s Preseason Bracketology.

He has Providence College getting a #12 seed along with Maryland, BYU, and Nevada.

Interesting comment from the article

veyr interesting just saw you did have Providence IN. They could be they have surpsising talent every year it seems. Geoff McDermott is back for what it seems like his 6th year. If Randall Hanke can have a solid year, theres no doubt they will be there all the way till the Big East Tourny.
